Christian teaching and learning about identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage

All around us we see changing understandings of human identity, changing patterns in relationships and families, changing sexual attitudes and activity. What does it mean for followers of Jesus to walk in love, faith and holiness today?

Since the publication of the LLF resources – all of which can be found below – thousands of people in the Church of England have engaged in learning together, listening to one another and to God. These gathered responses can be found here in a publication called 'Listening with Love and Faith'.

FAITH AND FRACTURE

Created in response to the LLF process, this glass sculpture was installed in York Minister to coincide with General Synod, July 2022. You can take a virtual tour here, and listen to the accompanying narrative and soundscape.

All the LLF resources can be found on this website

Their purpose is to inspire people to think more deeply about what it means to be human and to live in love and faith with one another.

They offer a variety of ways to learn, reflect and pray together.

A prayer for LLF

Here is a prayer for Living in Love and Faith.
Please use it in your gatherings and consider setting aside time on the last Friday of each month to pray for LLF.

God, whose name is Love,
Whose gift is life,
Whose word holds all in being;
Bless Living in Love and Faith to your church
As we seek to grow together
Into the truth of our humanity and longings,
Into communities where all find welcome,
Into the fullness that is your image in us;
Through the Word made flesh,
Our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen

THE BOOK

At the heart of the LLF resources is the LLF Book which brings together in-depth biblical, theological, historical and scientific perspectives to questions of identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage. Commended by the Bishops of the Church of England, it is available online and in hardcopy.

THE PODCASTS

LLF contributors discuss questions of identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage from their different perspectives. Each episode of this 16-part series focuses on particular chapters of the LLF Book. You can either login to listen or search for Living in Love and Faith on your own podcast platform.

THE LIBRARY

This is a curated online library of books, essays, articles that communicate the findings of research, the views of scholars, and the lived experience of Christians on LLF themes. Login to browse and to pursue a particular topic or perspective further.

THE STORY FILMS

The 16 short story films invite you to encounter people seeking to follow Christ. While not necessarily reflecting the teaching of the Church of England, they enrich our learning about diversity in the Church today. Login to watch these films and allow them to take root in your heart and prayers.

THE PASTORAL PRINCIPLES

The Pastoral Principles invite church communities to examine afresh their life together. They identify six 'pervading evils' that stop our churches from growing into Christian communities of welcome and belonging. Explore the 5-session Pastoral Principles Course for small groups here.

      Integrating Subtitles on Downloaded LLF Course Videos Page

      Introduction
      While the videos available for viewing directly on the LLF site have subtitles available that can be turned on by clicking the "CC" icon towards the right-hand-side of the video controls, these aren't automatically available on the downloaded videos. The easiest way that we've found to add them is to download the videos and subtitle files and then use VLC Media Player as described fully in the instructions below (screen-shots are taken from a Windows 10 laptop, using the Firefox browser).
